Standing Stones & Labyrinth
Here are some photos of the four standing stones around our labyrinth and May Pole. The four standing stones are placed to mark the position of sun rise and set on the Solstices. The Church of Asphodel erects one stone each Summer Solstice, and the next four will mark sun rise and set on the Equinoxes, then North and South for noon and midnight. Due to the high treeline and the size of the stones, it cannot be used for accurate astronomical sighting.
For those who are interested in such things, the labyrinth is a "Concentric" style (though done the opposite way around) and was built on a negative ley cross. It is listed in the Labyrinth Society's Worldwide Labyrinth Locator. Thanks to generous donations from the folks in Asphodel, we have been able to install small solar lights along the labyrinth. It is still requires moonlight and good vision to walk at night, but the lights are a beautiful addition to our ritual space.
Please contact Raven at 978-928-4198 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to stop by and walk our labyrinth. We ask that you please not drop by unannounced, because our field is sometimes in use by private events.
