Did you know that glass is a liquid? It's just so slow-moving that we think it's solid, Magical, yes? And it's made from the lowliest of materials.....ordinary beach sand. It's the fire that transforms it, because fire is always a transforming force. It's a spiritual allegory to see that fire takes something opaque and dull, something that slides through the fingers and is difficult to grasp.....and turns it into something crystal clear, easily held, yet fragile if mishandled. It's very like the way the fire of truth burns through everything vague and dull, making things clear and useful. The fire itself is propelled by the element of Breath, which is also the element upon which travels Truth as it is spoken. This is an art that draws upon the elements of Fire and Air. There, we'll bet you didn't think that glassblowing could be such a spiritual thing, did you?
