Nahi's Reading List:
Animal Speak by Ted Andrews - great for learning shapeshifting and why you would want to do it. Great for you budding Shamans
Good Magic by Marini Medici - this was my first "spell" book, a little advanced if you're starting from scratch but teaches you how to form your own spells.
Gypsy Love Magic by Raymond Buckland - I couldn't resist. Not bad though, not as cheesy as it sounds.
Love is in the Earth by Melody - Awesome catch all for fellow crystal healers and Gem Sluts!
How to Turn Your Ex-Boyfriend into a Toad & Other Spells by Deborah Gray & Athena Starwoman - This is an awesome book. I use this a lot and I have yet to be disappointed. Get past the cheesy title and it's great
Modern Magick by Donald Michael Kraig - We keep amassing numerous amounts of this one book. It keeps magickally appearing it's just that good...
Power of the Witch by Laurie Cabot - as a former Catholic trying to let go of ingrained guilt, this book was pivotal in making me feel comfortable enough to allow myself to be who I really was, a Wiccan. It helped to dispel a lot of Catholic guilt that I struggled with for 5 years before finding this. I wish I found it sooner, but I am grateful I found it at all. Kudos to Laurie... & I told her that too!
The Celestine Prophecy & The Tenth Insight by James Redfield - If you want to know where I get a lot of my theories of energy work and psychology of energy work, these are the books. They are written as more of an adventure book with theory you don't realize you're learning. I thought this was wonderful and I use a ton of theory from these books in my classes. A must read for energy workers!
The Power of Reiki by Tanmaya Honervogt - This is the BEST beginners Reiki book I've found. Gives basics of Reiki, basics of chakras, color therapy based on the chakras, hand positions for healing sessions, and theories of how to put it all together. A must have for you Reiki beginners!
The Truth About Witchcraft Today by Scott Cunningham - I gave this book to my mother after I came out of the broom closet. After reading it, she felt much better about my choice in this path and has stopped asking me to be Catholic again. This is a soup to nuts book that discusses everything from what it is to why Pagans work skyclad (naked for those not familiar) at times. It dispels a lot of myths about what Witches do in their religion. A must read for your favorite Wicca-phobic
The Urban Primitive by Raven Kaldera and Tannin Schwartzstein - Making brownie points... Seriously though, very good and very practical. Kudos the King and Sir Tannin!
Therapeutic Touch - A Practical Guide by Janet Macrae - A little dry and really basic. Great for beginners. Unfortunately I read it long after I was a Reiki Master so I didn't learn as much since I had been exposed else where. This is however a good book if you want to learn energy healing but don't want to go through the intense training of Reiki
Wicca - A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham - This was another first book. This was my closet days and it provided a lot of good general info and "getting to it" information. It helped me find my way when I was too afraid to ask.
Books For Fun
Incarnations of Immortality Series by Piers Anthony - I tore through these, I loved them. About 7 books in the whole series
Love Poems of Lord Byron - A sure way to help a successful wooing of the Mistress Sorry, he makes me melt.
Pet Cemetary by Stephen King - gotta love 'em; kill 'em off, raise 'em up and kill 'em off again!
Red Dragon & Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris - psychopaths making messes... Count me in!
Servant of the Bones by Anne Rice - Anne really did her homework on this one. She refers to the Necronomicon and other light readings. She is pretty good with mythical accuracy and makes a great story to boot! This is marked as a must read.
The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice - I'm an addict. Some are not terrific but all still worth reading at least once.
Shel Silverstein - Where the Sidewalk Ends - A Light in the Attic - Falling Up - this is where I fell in love with poetry. I still read some poems from time to time and I feel as good as I did the first time reading them. Very silly and child-like innocence.
